Have been using the new tracking plugin for Cinema 4d  Cinecat. www.screenspecter.com. This shot still needs work. I intended to use the  nice  new GI render engine in C4d R11 for this, but  since Im working  from 2 stations, work and home, and dont have R11 at work, I needed to back off from GI and see if I could use AO and raytraced area lights to work towards a pseudo GI look. Still not quite there.]]>

The  displacement  deformer was added and then micropoly displacement  added to that.]]>

	<title>Fulldome samples</title>

The animation is projected onto  the  interior  of a large  dome  surrounding  the  audience (as  in a planetarium). The audience expereinces the effect of being  immersed in the  envoronemt and  action. <br />

The frames are rendered  with a fisheye lens, hence the distortions. I'll post a few others.]]>

	<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://features.cgsociety.org/gallerycrits/10164/10164_1173333416_small.jpg"><br><br>Heres a scene I had begun back in 2003 which I had always meant to finish. There are a lot of things I'd like to do with it, specifically get a better UV map on it and work into the suraface texture a bit more. Dust mite's have a weird ridge pattern covering their bodies, and I'm happy that the image here reflects this feature, but to be honest, a lot of that wound up being a lucky accident. But, sometimes thats just how art is, you stumble upon something that works.<br />

I hope to eventually rig him up one day.<br />

	<title>3d Sketch-Style Storyboards</title>

	<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://features.cgsociety.org/gallerycrits/10164/10164_1170393070_small.jpg"><br><br>Here is a selection of frames pulled from storyboards I did for a recent CME animation. To save time, I built all the scenes in 3d using cinema 4d, then used the Sketch and Toon module (as well as falloff shaders) to create the pen and ink look. For many of the frames, I did 2 passes--one with line only and one straight pass with lighting and materials . I would then desaturate the  straight render and overlay the lineart in photoshop. I found this mehod more flexible then having to tweak my settings in sketch and toon to give me exactly what I wanted (which sometimes worked). The beuaty of this method is that the client gets to see storyboards that are pretty close to final (camera angles models and environments are alll there)  and I can  pretty much jump right into production mode on the actual animation once the boards are approved. These were  almost as enjoyable to produce as the final animation.]]>

All done in Cinema 4D 10, with the new Mograph module for much of the effects work. Post work was done in After Effects, using such plugins as Trapcode's Particular for the &quot;floaties&quot;,--also Starglow, and Shine.  Frischluft's Lenscare was used  for DOF. ReVision Reelsmart motion blur was used in some shots as well.]]>

The animation will show the process in which the Human Papilloma Virus invades the upper layer of skin (epithelium) of the cervix. The aethetic goal was to create the sense of an immense crevice  which will contrast to the scale of the tiny virus particles.<br />

Cinema 4d's Hair module was used for the underwater plants, and used Trapcode's particular  for the floaties. Trapcodes &quot;Shine&quot; was used to add some glare to the specular highlights wich helps add a sense that we are in a fuid environment. Frishclufts's lenscare plugin was used for the DOF--all in AfterEeffects.]]>

	<title>Plaque removal from carotid artery</title>

An altered photograph was camera mapped onto a model of a head. A separate model was built for the carotid artery/skin flap setup. The client had additional work done to it, but I always preferred  my result, shown here. Thanks for looking.<br />
